For young people, getting that first job is life changing.

Thanks to our Triple E formula – Employment Empowers Exponentially - Whitelion is empowering marginalised and at-risk youth across the country, by helping them gradually develop skills and connecting them with jobs.

Recent conversations highlight the possibility that many young Australians are unlikely to ever work full time; as a result of the changing labour forces move away from a traditional working week and the trend towards part time work.

At Whitelion, this makes us reflect on the importance of providing powerful alternatives to full time work for Australia’s disadvantaged youth; allowing them to work on their skill development, confidence and longer term employability.

Wheelly Good Coffee, our social enterprise café in Melbourne, has trained over 300 and employed seven young people since 2015.

More recently, we kicked off another social enterprise venture called Grounded in partnership with Charlie Coffee. Our Mt Druitt café will train even more young people to be great baristas, and equip them with skills for their future.

Whitelion has also provided opportunities for a number of young people in our offices, with recent hires including a youth worker previously supported by our case management programs, and a young person on an administration traineeship.

We currently have 200 young people being supported in employment with 104 added in this financial year.
