Mark Watt's exciting news!
Apr 03, 2018
Mark Watt, our CEO, is moving into a newly created role that’s great for him and great for Whitelion’s future! After a new CEO is appointed later this year, Mark will become Co-founder and Director of Development– a position perfectly suited to his strengths, interests and the future needs of Whitelion. Two top minds are better than one, and we’re all excited about seeing Whitelion evolve to be better than ever.
Under Mark’s leadership, Whitelion has become a leading Australian community organisation building relationships and tailoring services for young people to positively change their lives. It has merged with five organisations, operates in five Australian states and has seven social enterprises, 160 staff and 340 volunteers. Whitelion intensively supports over 2500 young people and provides outreach services to 20,000 more, and almost 40% of these young people are from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds. In giving young people pride, courage and opportunities, Whitelion has saved the community millions in jail and other costs too. Mark was recently appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in recognition of his remarkable service.
As Whitelion has grown into a big organisation, its needs have also changed. A fresh approach to the way the organisation is run will harness Whitelion’s extraordinary legacy and also enable Whitelion to take important new steps. We hope you’ll continue your wonderful support for us on this journey and work with us to fulfil our vision of an Australia in which all young people have equal opportunities to succeed.
