Thank you for another stunning year

It really does take a village to raise a white lion. On behalf of the board and myself, I’d like to express my sincere gratitude for the incredible support of our village – staff, volunteers, partners, donors and supporters alike. Together, we have achieved great outcomes:

• supported over 2,000 young people
• 26% of whom are from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background
• matched 357 mentors
• placed 198 young people into jobs and 461 young people into alternative learning centres
• delivered 20,244 episodes of support through our mobile outreach service
• delivered 133 prevention workshops
• supported over 50 participants in our social enterprises.

All of this has only been possible with the collaboration and commitment of each and every one of you. I continue to be inspired by the collective energy and passion of our village of supporters.

Well, I have now been in the hot seat for almost 100 days and I’m super pleased to report that we are gearing up for a fantastic 2019.

I’ve been on a steep learning curve – visiting programs, spending time with staff and meeting young people, hearing from our supporters and partners alike.

We have refreshed our key priorities and undertaken a leadership restructure to align people and functions to deliver on our priorities.

2019 will see us move into our 20th year anniversary - a time for celebration and deep reflection. We will be undertaking the exciting step of re-visioning Whitelion for a new future. While history and legacy will inform our thinking, Whitelion’s future will be led by the needs of young people and the extent to which we can positively impact their lives.
