National Camp 2019 - Re-Cap
Dec 21, 2018
On the 7th of September, young people from different parts of Victoria and New South Whales joined together for a weekend away on National Camp. The camp united young people, staff and mentors in a journey that allowed people to step out of their comfort zones and face challenges.
This goal was successful, as everyone took on a challenge during camp which included activities tah groups completed which set challenges for individuals. These included high ropes, the giant swing and team initiative tasks. As teams, everyone also guided and was there to support others while they were engaging in activities, showing that teamwork makes the dream work. Through support and believing, you can accomplish a challenge, it then becomes possible.
I, a young person part of the YoungLions Advocacy and Ambassadors Program 2018 (YAAP), am proud to say that National camp was an amazing experience. It enabled me to make new friends and engage in challenges that I never thought I would be able to complete. I did the giant swing and I am afraid of heights! Camp allowed me to gain new skills, such as working in a team to complete initiatives.
The best part about camp for me was being able to challenge myself and be around such wonderful people. I also took part in an activity that was established by the YAAP team, the Zine workshop. I believe this was really fun and creative. Overall camp was such an amazing experience! I gained so many great memories from it and so did many other. Everything about the camp site to the activities, food, environment and great energy that filled the air during National Camp 2018.
