Katie turned her life around from her overwhelming situation

When Katie was referred to Whitelion she was overwhelmed by her situation. She was living with her partner, who was a perpetrator of family violence, regularly using drugs, she was behind in her rent and other bills as well as suffering from mental health concerns. She was looking for holistic support to overcome these challenging circumstances.

It was important to get Katie into safe and secure housing which meant her worker helped her to access housing support and community support grants to help manage her financial concerns. Whitelion also supported Katie to leave the apartment she lived in with her partner to find her more suitable accommodation. Her worker also encouraged Katie to attend Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) support that was arrange in conjunction with a mental health facilitate to provide her with high level mental health support.

Throughout her time with Whitelion Katie appreciated the non-judgemental nature her worker had towards her so they could work together to improve her situation.

Katie has been clean for a number of weeks as well as attending AOD support to help her continue on this journey. She has obtained employment herself and is working very hard to continue it. Whitelion will continue to work supporting Katie to continue accessing both mental and physical health supports. We have seen huge growth in Katie since she was referred to us and it is her hard work along with the support of her worker that has allowed her to make such big changed in her life.
