Fruit2Work Selected to Attend the Social Enterprise World Forum 2017
Jun 22, 2017
Fruit2Work is among 63 Australian social enterprises announced as successful recipients of the Social Enterprise World Forum Australian Bursary Fund.
To be held in Christchurch from 27-29 September, the forum is designed to provide networking opportunities and for attendees to share ideas on creating a more sustainable future. As part of their contribution at the Forum, recipients will participate in a series of facilitated networking events to encourage and build the next cohort of future social enterprise leaders.
Rob Brown, CEO of Fruit2Work will represent Whitelion and Fruit2Work at the event.
This is fantastic recognition of the impact Fruit2Work has achieved in less than a year. Already 2 participants in the Fruit2Work program have transitioned to full time employment, with 2 more currently undertaking the program and 2 more to start in the next 6 to 8 weeks.
Fruit2Work is dedicated to creating transitional employment for those in the community in need of a second chance. Many struggle to find regular work due to a variety of factors, including:
- Lack of work experience to show prospective employers
- Their need to attend mandatory and/or voluntary support services during work hours
- Unwillingness of employers to give them a go.
Employees get access to ongoing mentoring and counselling services whilst proving their capacity to work, packing fruit boxes that are delivered to over 400 businesses around Melbourne.
